Procedure
Cleaning the mirror and the lens:
- Turn off X/Y motors.
- Move the motors to the middle to enable easy access.
- Unscrew the mirror and the lens.
- Apply one drop of cleansing fluid on each of them.
- Use the microfiber cloth to clean the mirror and the lens.
- Screw the parts back on the head (finger tight is sufficient).
- Move the head back to preffered X/Y zeropoint, before pressing "GO".
Repeat this procedure after using the laser cutter.
Emptying the beds trey:
If the bed is full of foreign object, please empty it before cutting.
Adjusting the focus on the lens
- Lay the work piece on the bed.
- Unfold the spacing adjustment pin.
- Move the Z axis up/down until the spacing adjustment pin barely touches the work piece.
Setup in inDesign
- Adjust the document size to width:406mm and height:305mm.
- Set the zero point to top-left corner of the document.
- Import the files (.ai, .dxf).
- Cutting and rastering;
- Vector cutting: Set lines to 0mm thickness.
- Rastering lines: lines with a >0mm stroke will be rastered.
- Rastering images: to raster images, use the bitmap>rasterize function.
Settings
- Make sure that you are utilizing a material that is compatible with laser cutting. Talk to the engineer in ROBIN or in SONEN if you are uncertain.
The proper settings are listed in a table that can be found in the lab.
Execution
Before executing the job:
- Make sure the filter is turned on.
- Run the job with the lid open. This will ensure that you have oriented the job correctly.
- Press stop pause the job.
- Press reset to set the laser to origin. Wait until the laser is still before pressing reset.
- Finally; execute the job with the lid closed.
- Do NOT open windows.
When the job is completed:
- Log out.
- Turn off the laser cutter and the filter.
